PLANNER
 
Mackenzie County is currently inviting applications for a Planner position. This position will be located in La Crete and is a full-time position with a 36.25 hour work week (7.25 hours per day) Monday to Friday.
 
Reporting to the Director of Planning & Development, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
 
  • Leading major projects related to statutory and non-statutory planning documents, and multi-lot subdivision applications;
  • Providing analysis, research, or other input, as required, for the development of statutory and non-statutory planning documents;
  • Leading the initiative for environmental planning in the municipality;
  • Providing strategic direction and leadership in developing and implementing planning process improvements;
  • Working with applicants and stakeholders to resolve issues arising from planning applications;
  • Developing and coordinating public consultation strategies for planning matters.
 
Requirements for this position are:
 
  • Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Geography, Architecture, Engineering or other relevant field;
  • Registered Professional Planner with Alberta Professional Planners Institute (APPI) and/or the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP);
  • 3 years of experience in a municipal planning environment;
  • Working knowledge of GIS systems (AutoCAD, Arc View) is an asset;
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally & in writing with the public and with municipal, provincial and federal agencies;
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public in carrying out the duties of administering the provision of the applicable bylaws and regulations;
  • Evidence of successfully passing a police Criminal Record Check.
 
Salary: $73,004/annum – $87,604/annum. Mackenzie County offers a comprehensive benefit package.
