ASSISTANT CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER (ACAO)
The Town of Bonnyville is inviting applications for the position of Assistant Chief Administrative Officer.
The Town of Bonnyville, located 250 km. east of Edmonton has a population of 6,837; Bonnyville is situated on Jessie Lake, a natural wetlands and home to 200 bird species. Bonnyville is also located amidst a dozen lakes teaming with a variety of sport fish; you can swim, water-ski, windsurf, sail, canoe, hike, or simply enjoy the beauty of our lakes in this area.
The Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), will be responsible for acting as the primary staff assistant to the CAO in addition to the departmental manager role and responsibilities of looking after Economic Development and Recreation. The Assistant CAO will assist in managing the daily affairs of the Town within the policies adopted by Council. This position will act on behalf of the CAO in his absence.
As the successful candidate, you are a key advisor and strategist to the CAO and Council regarding corporate issues such as strategic planning, financial planning, business planning human resource policy development and civil engineering matters. You will possess senior financial management experience, ideally in the municipal government setting, and possess excellent communication, organization and inter-personal skills with proven ability to manage in a team environment. You have a bachelor’s degree in a professional discipline relevant to public sector management, preferably supplemented with ongoing further education and training. A minimum of 10 years administration experience is required, and management experience of five years at a senior leadership level providing direction and financial oversight to a multi-faceted portfolio is also required. An understanding of economic development, recreation, civil engineering and experience as a civil engineer or civil engineering technologist would be an asset. In addition, you must have a solid understanding of municipal government and a positive record of working effectively with elected officials, Boards of Directors, and Committees. A designation such as Certified Local Government Manager (CLGM), Certificate in Local Government Administration (LGA), or Certified Engineering Technology (CET) would be a definite asset.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, the Town of Bonnyville offers a complete pension and benefits package.
