PUBLIC WORKS MANAGER
 
The Public Works Department of the Town of Vegreville has an opening for a full-time permanent Public Works Manager. The Public Works Manager works under the supervision of the Infrastructure, Planning & Development Director. An employee in this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the planning, budgeting, organizing and directing of Public Works programs such as; roads, water distribution and wastewater collection repair and maintenance. The Public Works Manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising duties pertinent to the Public Works Department as assigned by the Infrastructure, Planning & Development Director, staffing within the department for the areas responsible, and for the development and implementation of training and safety programs when necessary. This individual will also be responsible for the operation of the Cemetery, Sanitary Landfill, Regional Airport, and the Town’s Solid Waste Collection Program.
 
Suitable candidates should possess the following qualifications:
  • Post-Secondary Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or post-secondary background relevant to a municipal environment.
  • Three to five years of municipal or management experience preferably in water and sewer installation, repair and maintenance, road construction and maintenance.
  • Possess sound administrative and computer skills.
  • Equivalent combination of education and management experience will be considered.
  • Capable of attending Council and Committee Meetings as necessary and will liaison with special technical committees, organizations and the public at large. Acts as a technical advisor for specialized projects.
  • Capable of communicating effectively with employer(s), fellow employees and the general public.
  • Capable of maintaining a professional relationship with employer(s), fellow employees and the general public.
  • Have a good working knowledge of Safety Standards and Practices and the ability and desire to implement them.

Salary Range: $72,067 - $89,264
