The Town of Olds has an opening for a full time Senior Community Peace Officer Level 1. Within the Community Services Department this is an enforcement and supervisory position. The position is responsible for education and enforcement activities within the Town by engaging the public in a process what will promote compliance, and enforcement of Municipal Bylaws and specific Provincial Statutes. Supervisory responsibilities include direction of enforcement officers, monitoring of investigation/ticket files, ensuring that the department is adhering to policy/procedures set forth by the Town and Alberta Solicitor General, and oversight for permit, license, and ticket processes. Municipal Enforcement works closely with the RCMP on enforcement issues related to all Municipal Bylaws and Provincial Statutes. This position will interact with the public and other staff on a regular basis in regards to enforcement issues. The successful candidate must have the ability to represent the Town of Olds in a professional competent manner.
 
To be the successful candidate for this position, you should have the following:
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Successfully completed RCMP securities check (including vulnerable sectors).
  • Eligible for appointment as a Community Peace Officer Level 1 with the Alberta Solicitor General (see attached requirements).
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’ License supported by a current driver’s abstract.
  • A minimum of five (5) years current experience directly in law enforcement with primary experience in municipal policing and working with municipal bylaws and Alberta’s Provincial Statutes. Two (2) years in a supervisory role
  • Excellent organization, oral and written communication skills to complement your knowledge and experience in municipal bylaw enforcement.
 
Compensation includes benefits and is based on a 40-hour work week with some shift work to cover evenings and weekends required.
