Lethbridge County is recruiting a Human Resources Coordinator for a one (1) year term to provide coverage for a maternity leave. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day Human Resources functions for the County. This position requires a generalist with varied work experience in all facets of Human Resources. Under the general supervision of the Director of Corporate Services, areas of responsibility will include providing HR support to department directors and supervisors, policy and directive development, human resource planning, labor relations, training and development, safety, disability management, recruitment, selection and leading the onboarding process.
 
In addition to remaining current with all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations, this role requires the individual to adhere to and enforce all established Company policies and procedures in alignment with the County’s strategic plan. This role further requires the individual to maintain positive relationships between the management team and employees.
 
Education/Training/Skills Required
The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with a major in Human Resources
  • Has or is working towards a CHRP designation
  • A minimum of three years of experience in HR and experience in a municipal setting would be an asset, other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with Human Rights Legislation, Alberta Labour Standards, Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code
  • Experience with policy development and implementation
  • High level of personal ethics and integrity with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentiality and tact
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office)
  • Refined public speaking and presentation skills
  • Experience in a unionized setting would be an asset
  • Valid driver’s license, in good standing
