Position Summary


Job Overview


The Finance department is looking for two Financial Business Advisors to provide support, advice and financial expertise to all City departments. We are currently seeking motivated and knowledgeable professionals to provide exceptional internal customer service in the areas of financial reporting and processes, budgeting, forecast and analysis, as well as internal controls and procedures.


Main Responsibilities


As a member of the Finance team and reporting to the Financial Business Analyst, you will provide financial support to City departments in the areas of:


  • Financial reporting and analysis
  • Procurement
  • Revenue and expenditure
  • Payroll (scheduling and processes)
  • Management of assets and reserves
  • Accounting for capital projects


Priority Based Budget (PBB) support in the areas of:


  • Preparation, analysis and forecasting
  • Development, monitoring and reporting of Performance Measures and KPI's


In addition, you will be looked upon for the implementation and monitoring of standard internal controls, processes and procedures, business process improvement support, data analysis and resulting recommendations for the purposes of mitigating risks and pursuing opportunities. You will also be providing on-going training to various levels of staff throughout all City departments.




The successful candidate will be a resourceful, approachable team member who thrives on people and professional challenges in a progressive and constantly advancing environment. You will have a University degree with a minimum of two years related experience, as well as preference will be given if you hold a professional designation as a CPA or are currently enrolled in the CPA program as a student.


Additionally, you will have experience in public accounting and/or local government accounting and finance, experience with financial analysis, computer information processing and financial system experience.
