Economic Development Officer
 
 

 

 
The Economic Development Officer will be responsible for nothing…. nothing so rewarding as implementing our “Strategic Pathways Plan” which will focus on Entrepreneurial Enablement, Investment Attraction, Marketing “Upstanding” Brand Building and focus on Collaborative Economic Development Initiatives within the Flagstaff Region.
 
Our ideal candidate will understand that Flagstaff County has a set of natural conditions that conclude that we can’t be everything to everyone and will help us focus on economic development opportunities that are niche and unique to our Region….just like our ideal candidate.
 
Flagstaff County is a prominent Agricultural producing region located in east central Alberta. Our rural “Community of communities” has a population of 8,350 which is inclusive of the eight towns and villages within the region. Our peaceful, enjoyable, family oriented municipality is located approximately 150 km southeast of Edmonton with our office located near Sedgewick.
 
Qualifications:
 
  1. Certified Economic Developer (Ec.D.) designation, or be in the process of obtaining.
  2. Post-secondary education in Business Administration or Marketing or equivalent experience is desirable.
  3. Experience in a Municipal environment will be an asset.
  4. Project management and budget administration are essential.
  5. A minimum of three (3) years of related experience in a supervisory role with a strong working knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision to enable him/her to perform his/her duties completely and effectively is desirable.
  6. Skilled in planning and organizing work, supervising staff and delegating work effectively.
  7. Ability to develop clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials, with excellent communication skills, organizational and accuracy skills.
  8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Council, staff, and the public.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  10. Valid class 5 driver’s license.
