Are you a self-starter with lots of initiative who enjoys leasing, property management, and high profile projects? You will join the Leasing and Property Management Team of Real Estate, Housing and Economic Sustainability as a Property Management Officer. Reporting to the Section Supervisor of Leasing and Property Management and supporting the leasing and property management activities of the section, your primary duties will include:
 
  • Coordinate the efficient operation of City-owned and leased facilities including maintenance, janitorial, security, life safety measures, utilities, voice and data systems, and minor renovation and base building projects
  • Provide leasing services including search for space, negotiation and documentation of lease agreements, licenses, memorandums of agreement, and administration of leases to ensure that lease commitments are met, and inspections and lease renewals are undertaken
  • Review and providing input into the planning and implementation of accommodation and base building projects to ensure that work is completed within budget and on schedule
  • Plan and coordinating operational activities, accommodation and base building projects, leasing activities, and other special projects including reviewing and monitoring of financial activities to ensure performance benchmarks are achieved
  • Provide leasing services, as a landlord and a tenant, including the identification of available property, negotiation of leases and other agreements, preparation and administration of agreements, lease renewals, subleases, lease assignments, and licenses for commercial, industrial, non-profit, and special purpose properties
  • Administer agreements to ensure acceptable standards of operation, maintenance, and services to the City and the tenant
  • Ensure effective daily operations and tenant services for City-owned and leased facilities, and monitoring performance while ensuring that all facilities operate in accordance with City policies and procedures
  • Prepare reports for submission to senior management and City Council relating to leasing of properties, and preparing correspondence and minutes
  • Coordinate and monitoring building maintenance and custodial services for preventative maintenance, repair programs, and security
  • Assist other City departments and civic agencies in determining rental rates, terms and lease provisions, and providing property information to support sales
  • Use inventory and financial computer systems (POSSE, TACS, SAP, TRIRIGA) for administration of budgets, invoice approval, local improvements, and taxes
 
Qualifications:
 
  • A professional designation in Certified Property Manager (C.P.M.) or Real Property Administrator (R.P.A) and completion of a 2 year diploma program in Business Administration or an equivalent program; or a university degree in Commerce or a related discipline and course work toward a professional designation, C.P.M. or R.P.A. and 3 years of Property Management experience
  • Property management experience with emphasis on commercial leasing is an asset
  • Working knowledge of property, facility, or asset management, space programming, computer aided facility management (CAFM) systems, construction, project management, and feasibility studies will be considered an asset
  • General knowledge of facility management industry, municipal government, corporate structure, and interdepartmental relationships
  • Good judgment, interpersonal, and coordination skills in dealing with internal and external customers, contractors, consultants, real estate agents, boards, authorities, and other community organizations
  • Strong negotiating, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills including the preparation of reports
  • Demonstrated ability in sound judgment and decision-making
  • Strong project management, time management, and coordination skills
  • Proficient usage of computer applications including Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and Google Gmail
  • Knowledge of POSSE, SAP, TACS, and TRIRIGA is considered an asset
  • Ability to professionally manage difficult situations while achieving results and maintaining relationships
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent)
  • Must arrange own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require business auto insurance
  • Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
 
Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. 
 
Salary Range:  $43.796 - $55.220 (Hourly); $77,157.600 - $97,283.840 (Annually)
