The City is currently seeking a fulltime (40 hours per week) Corporate Properties Supervisor to join our Team. As a member of the Development and Infrastructure (DIS) Operations and Engineering Approvals team, this position provides senior operation and supervision of City facilities maintenance in support of the municipality’s overall operations and development.
 
This includes, but is not limited to:
 
  • Day-to-day operations and maintenance of all facilities including the Municipal Office, Public Works buildings, Fire Hall and RCMP building
  • Supervision and mentorship of Building Operators
  • Contract management
  • Communication with building occupants.
 
This position provides senior operational and supervisory expertise in the attainment of annual goals and initiatives within the broader framework of the City/Department’s annual and 3 year Strategic and Business Plans.
 
Consideration will be given to candidates who possess:
 
  • Grade 12 diploma or GED.
  • 7 years of related and progressive experience, including 2 years of supervisory experience in a municipal environment.
  • Millwright or Journeyman Certification or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check deemed satisfactory by the City.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and a Driver’s Abstract deemed satisfactory by the City.
  • Maintain valid Standard First Aid CPR C and AED certifications.
  • Analytical and creative thinking skills as a member of the DIS (Operations and Engineering Approvals) team, e.g., analytical skills with the ability to solve problems, make decisions, negotiate and deal effectively with people.
  • Knowledge of governance issues, e.g., policy interpretation.
  • Communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form, e.g., maintain ongoing communication to anticipate and prevent potential problems, develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with staff and other stakeholders.
  • Proven supervisory capability, e.g., ability to motivate staff towards constant improvement and encourage staff to make recommendations, coaching, mentoring, performance management and development.
  • Ability to act as an advocate, balancing the needs of staff and citizens with the needs of the City.
  • Business acumen, including budget and contract management skills and the ability to make effective decisions that are well-informed and that reflect the input gathered from stakeholders.
  • Strong work ethic and highly motivated, e.g., ability to work in a fast paced environment and respond to action requests and competing deadlines in a timely matter.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
