Our Utilities division develops customized water, wastewater and energy systems and provides field metering services for clients across North America. Our clients include municipalities, resort properties, gas, water and electric utilities, developers and institutions.
 
About the Job:
 
Corix Utilities invites applications from candidates with proven skills, qualifications and abilities for the regular full-time position of Utility Operator Level 2. This position will be based out of our Calgary location. Corix Utilities undertakes the construction, operation, and maintenance of multi-utility systems serving various resorts and residential communities throughout Alberta. This position will appeal to someone looking for the opportunity to participate in a dynamic growth oriented organization and rewards results. Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Operate, inspect and service equipment in water and wastewater;
  • Perform preventive maintenance and ensure maintenance and plant records are accurate and up-to-date;
  • Interprets lab results and evaluates plant operation and systems performance against performance objectives; investigates and undertakes corrective action where necessary;
  • Undertakes routine repairs to water distribution and wastewater treatment and collection systems;
  • Operates related maintenance tools and equipment including utility-related computer programs;
  • Hours of work will include weekends and on-call. 
 
Working Conditions: 
Work in plant and field environments; some exposure to wastewater, chemicals, hazardous materials, and noise; heavy lifting/moving, standing, climbing. May work at heights, in confined spaces, and in inclement weather conditions. Will participate in on-call and scheduled overtime rotation. 
 
Qualifications:
  • Level II operator certification;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience;
  • Post-secondary education, training and/or certifications of the previously mentioned levels of certifications;
  • Field experience in electrical or mechanical trades an asset;
  • Knowledge of performing regular inspections of the sewer collection system, locating and inspecting manholes and the sewage lift station, and facilitating repairs as required an asset; 
  • After-hour and weekend on-call support may be required;
  • Weekend scheduling may be required;
  • Good mechanical aptitude;
  • Valid driver’s license; must be able to provide driver's abstract;
  • Training in various areas, including confined space operations, will be provided;
  • Ability to maintain logs as required using MS Word and MS Excel and to communicate via email using MS Outlook.
