You are a collaborative engineer with a strong work ethic and will join a team of highly technical and skilled professionals to coordinate and schedule asset maintenance and rehabilitation activities to support the delivery of reliable waste management facility operations and services, optimize the cost effectiveness of capital maintenance and rehabilitation works and extend the service life of facility assets. Primary duties:

Provide engineering advice and judgement in procurement strategies and makes recommendations on negotiations with Consultants and Contractors when required.

Support capital maintenance execution in the Business Unit and assist with development of business cases for capital investments used to justify the 4 to 10 year budget for capital infrastructure maintenance.

Identify and resolve issues related to scheduling of maintenance construction and management of issues related to adjacent and overlapping projects.

Conduct site inspections, manage infrastructure condition assessment.

Maintain knowledge of the Business Unit and Corporate Project Management Framework standards, policies, and updates from Supply Management and Infrastructure & Information Services.
Qualifications

Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 3 years experience as a Professional Engineer.

Be registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada, and have Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) registration by the first day of work.

Previous experience in erosion and sediment control, pavement management, soil mechanics, storm and wastewater collection systems and building as well as knowledge of asset maintenance, asset management and project management will be considered assets.

Possess skills to identify asset performance opportunities in the waste management facilities and to develop and implement tactical recommendations to achieve results.

Strong communication, decision making, critical and analytical thinking skills.
Pre-employment Requirements

Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.

An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
