Manager of Fire Services

The City of Wetaskiwin Fire Service protects a diverse community of approximately 12,500 urban and 3,000 rural citizens. Wetaskiwin is a thriving and progressive community located in Central Alberta between Edmonton and Red Deer. The City offers an enviable quality of life for all ages with excellent housing, education and recreation, as well as a local hospital.

The Manager of Fire Services is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Fire Services Department. In addition this position is in charge of a wide range of responsibilities such as major emergency and disaster planning, internal health and safety and risk management. The City is looking for a dynamic leader that will continue to facilitate our many partnerships, manage community fire protection programs such as public education, fire code enforcement, firefighter training and safety, apparatus maintenance and communications. This position is key in working with the community, emergency agencies and the City’s management team.

Qualifications and Preferences:

Post-secondary education in applicable fields
A minimum of 10 years in an emergency leadership role
Excellent interpersonal and liaison skills
Alberta Safety Codes Certification
