Position Summary:
The Coordinator, Visual Design and Web Communication is accountable for developing and implementing the City of Leduc’s website content and design; developing and implementing a web and electronic communications strategy; and assisting the City of Leduc in production of high quality communication and marketing materials.
Duties and Responsibilities:

develop, implement, evaluate and improve website content, design and content management controls

advise and respond to client needs for web-based issues resolution or development of content
-
train and work with department web content managers and administrators to ensure that the web is up to date
-
work with Communications and IT team members to ensure the administration of the web meets with the City’s communication needs, including the Leduc Recreation Centre
-
anticipate and plan for business and technological changes, monitors site performance and current trends in web technology and makes recommendations
-
develop, implement and maintain the City of Leduc electronic library of visual resources, including photos, video and templates for internal and external use
-
all stages of visual design development, from concept to production
-
work with team members to design, implement, customize and maintain user-friendly online and print material
-
consult with various City business units, departmental champions and external partners to ensure brand consistency
-
provide design support for all printed and electronic media
-
maintain online templates for staff use
-
work with internal clients and Communication Coordinator to gather requirements for public materials, and produce effective public materials
-
responsible for estimating expected turnaround times, costs and resources required for design deliverables
-
meet client deliverable expectations and timelines established during project planning
-
maintain design consistency across different media
-
explore new concepts and adapt them to existing products and materials to support marketing strategies
-
present design deliverables to internal clients and management team
-
communication writing, media buying and event planning
-
maintain brand standards with documents and templates to support corporate brand efforts
-
assist the Communication Coordinator with content editing for marketing/communication materials
-
work with the Communications Coordinator to develop social media strategies, campaigns and tools to promote the City of Leduc
-
provide general support and backup for the Communications Coordinator
Qualifications:
Education:
-
degree in communication, web design, graphic design, media arts, or related field
Experience:
-
minimum three years of experience designing and producing both online web interfaces and print marketing materials
-
experience creating effective marketing materials, is required
-
strong project management experience and training
-
equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
-
creative thinker with strong sense of visual design, colour theory, typography, identity and branding

demonstrated understanding of website design and information
-
familiar with HTML and CSS
-
understanding of corporate brand management including the development and application of brand standards to a wide variety of communications products and channels
-
familiar with industry standard design tools including Adobe Creative Suite
-
knowledgeable of browser capabilities and constraints
-
proficient in MS Office Suite

exceptional customer service focus

knowledge of traditional design processes related to both print and web deliverables

strong understanding of effective visual communications strategies for producing print, and multimedia design deliverables

ability to display proficiency in online social media strategy and marketing

Working Conditions:
This position is primarily an office position with sitting and computer usage for prolonged periods. Extensive contact with customers in person, by telephone and computer, is required. The office environment has moderate noise levels, controlled temperature, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.
