CITY OF BROOKS
FINANCE MANAGER
Brooks, a vibrant, growing community of over 13,500 located two hours southeast of Calgary, is offering an exciting opportunity to join our management team in a demanding and dynamic municipal office environment.
Reporting to the Deputy CAO, the incumbent will lead, supervise and co-ordinate all financial and clerical services and activities within the mandate of the department; assess, co-ordinate and balance workloads; and maintain up-to-date work plans, priority task listings & delegation schedules.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient operation of the financial services department which encompasses the accounting function, policy, payroll, assessment, taxation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, utilities, internal controls, audit and computer applications; manage the City’s investments and corresponding cash position as per legislation, approved standards and policies; and be responsible for the preparation of financial statements, budgets, reports, divisional annual and long-range resource plans (manpower, equipment), 3-year operating and capital plans, 10-year capital plan and 20-year equipment replacement schedule.
The successful candidate must be a team player with exceptional analytical, leadership, communication and inter-personal skills with considerable experience in a municipal financial setting. Preferred qualifications include a professional accounting designation or a B.Comm (Accounting Major) with a minimum of five years progressive work experience in a local government setting.
