PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

This is a Municipal Operator position, working outside in all kinds of weather, 8am to 5pm weekdays. Occasional overtime may be required. Applicant must not live further than 15 minutes from Town in order to respond to emergencies in a timely manner – applicants noting their willingness to relocate will also be considered 

Desired Qualifications: Applicants will be graded on competencies in these related fields:

• Water/Waste Water experience, training and certification level
• Construction and maintenance knowledge of roads, sidewalks, and other related municipal infrastructure
• Understanding of the mechanical functions of machinery and equipment normally associated with municipal operations (i.e. street sweeper, grader, lawn care equipment, road equipment); heavy equipment experience would be an asset
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a clean Driver’s Abstract; Class 3 would be an asset.
• Organizational, cooperation, and communication skills - demonstrated work ethic and interactions with other staff and the public.
• Handyman skills - the aptitude to learn is paramount.
• Canadian High School Diploma or equivalent with preference for a Technical School Diploma.
