As a key member of the administration team, the position will be responsible for the progressive implementation of planning and development services for the municipal district.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Appointed as the subdivision and development authority for the Municipal District; responsible for the implementation of related processes and approvals
  • Provides advice and guidance to the public and to municipal district departments
  • Provides advice and recommendations on municipal district planning legislation
  • Leads specialized planning and development projects
  • Coordinates the implementation of planning related approvals with services implementation in conjunction with infrastructure departments
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in planning or related discipline
  • Two years of experience in a municipal setting
  • Knowledge of standard planning, building and subdivision procedures and methods, local land use plans, bylaws, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to interpret the MD’s Land Use Bylaw, statutory plans, the Municipal Government Act and other provincial legislation
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion and integrity
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Self-motivated with excellent public relation, written, and organizational skills
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) would be a definite asset
  • Possess valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Effective written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
