The MD of Lesser Slave River has a permanent full-time Community Peace Officer Level 1 position. Reporting to the Senior Peace Officer, the position will perform law enforcement duties across a vast boreal forest territory, two hours north of Edmonton. This means the position will work proactively with the public with respect to Municipal District bylaws, public safety, infrastructure protection, traffic safety, and relevant authorization of provincial statutes.
  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age 18 years old
  • Competent and of good character
  • No criminal record and not a subject of a criminal investigation
  • Successful completion of the Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE)
  • Successful completion of the Community Peace Officer Induction Course or training equivalent
  • Be eligible for Community Peace Officer Level 1 appointment under the GoA Peace Officer Program
  • Possess valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Possess valid Possession and Acquisition License (PAL)
  • Effective written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain certification on particular equipment necessary for the performance of duties
  • Level C First Aid and CPR
